Day 21(4/June/2019) 曇りー雨 長万部―豊浦―伊達―東室蘭
朝からどんよりしている。宿の主人から、「これから登別方面に行くなら、長――い直線道路が終わるとすぐ登り坂になり、そこから峠まで長いよ。トンネルも多いから気を付けてね！」とあまり知りたくない情報をいただいた。さあ出発720．気温16度。グーグルマップ測ってみるとその直線道路は８ｋｍほどあった。
9時過ぎになり登りはまだ続いていたが、どんよりした曇りから雨になった。道路わきの葉っぱが多そうな枝の下で雨宿り。しばらく待っていたが、雨足が強くなったので、昨今話題のワークマンで買った合羽を着込む。４０分程まって雨が止んだようだったので出発。しかし、山の天気はコロコロ変わる。雨が降ったり止んだりの天気になった。５つ目のトンネルを過ぎるころは吐く息が白かった。
雨が完全に止むのを待とうと、豊浦町の道の駅へ。この豊浦町はボクシング世界チャンピオンの内藤選手の故郷らしく、名誉町民であるチャンピオンのトロフィーやメダルなどが展示してあったが、ちょっと展示が雑じゃない？ もうちょっと世界チャンピオンへのリスペクトがあってもいいんじゃない？ と思わせる展示だった。
伊達市へ。「だて歴史文化ミュージアム」に寄る。なぜ伊達市というのか？ 仙台の伊達政宗の親戚筋の伊達家が、戊辰戦争で敗れ領地没収となり、新天地を求めてこの地に２７００人が移住したらしい。またこの地には縄文から続くアイヌ文化もあり、伊達家の移住者はアイヌの人たちに助けられながら開拓していったとの事。明治維新はいろいろな歪みを伴った革命だったと思う。敷地内には政府役人を接待する迎賓館も残っていた。
室蘭に近づくと、室蘭らしい風景が見えてきた。室蘭の先端へ通じる白鳥大橋（はくちょうおおはし）。東室蘭に近づくと街のシンボル、日本製鉄（今年の４月１日から新日鉄住金が社名を変更して日本製鉄に）室蘭製鉄所が見えた。
東室蘭到着1540pm。走行距離８３ｋｍ、通過トンネル：14か所

It was cloudy today. The owner of inn said, “Firstly you will face the long straight road, which is around 8km long. After this, the uphill will begin and there will be many tunnels”. I didn’t want to know such a information in advance which makes me gloomy. After 1.5hours of ride, the rain began although I didn’t reach the top of the hill. I rested under the branch of trees for 40minutes.
I restarted but the light rain continued. I decided to have a coffee at the retail/restaurant organized by Toyoura town. I found that this town was the hometown of the famous boxing champion. Although his trophies were displayed, the treatment was not good. The place was the corner of building and it was partially covered by the board of restaurant.
When I passed the city of Date, I dropped the city museum. For the first time, this city was made by immigrants of Date family from Sendai city which I wrote here on Day10.
Getting closer to Muroran city, the symbols of city appeared in front of me, which are the giant bridge, Hakucho(swan in Japanese) bridge and the factory of Japan steel co.
