Day 12(26/May/2019) 超快晴 石巻―大川小学校跡―北上川北上―登米―気仙沼

805出発。気温19度。日なたで出発準備しているとこれまでにない暑さに驚く。石巻に来たら行かなければならないと思っていた大川小学校跡地へ。東北大震災の大川小学校の悲劇についてはご存知だと思いますが、津波で児童74名と教職員10名が亡くなられた。この辺りに来る機会があれば、実際に訪れ、亡くなられた方々の冥福を祈りたかった。学校は原っぱにポツンとあるように見えるが、津波の前は、住宅が学校を取り囲んでいました。今はもう何もない。学校の裏手には菩薩像が建てられていた。朝から多くの人々が訪れ祈りをささげていました。皆さんもご一緒に、合掌。

今日は気仙沼まで行く予定だが、自転車NAVIは海沿いではなく、北上川経由の山越えを推薦していた。素直に従う。北上川はゆっくりと流れ、途中突然の大鳥居。今日は大変暑く1時から3時まで道の駅に非難。気仙沼に近づくと、至る所が建設現場となっていて、日々道も変わるのか、ナビがうまく機能せず、宿到着まで時間がかかった。宿には1800着。走行距離１１１Km。通過トンネル０。

Ishinomaki – Tome - Kesennuma

I started the journey at 805am. Temp:19C. Today’s my biggest objective is to visit the site of Ohkawa Elementary School in Ishinomaki. One of biggest tragedies happened here during “Great East Japan Earthquake” on 11/Mar/2011. 74pupils and 10 teachers were killed by Tsunami. I prayed the reposes of casualties' souls. The picture shows the site stands alone in the field. But a lot of houses and buildings surrounded the school before Tsunami. The statue of Buddhism was also built behind the building. Let's pray together.

I moved along with Kitakami River. I also encountered the gigantic Trii-gate. This week in Japan it is extremely hot. Today it was hottest. In order to avoid the problem, I escaped in the restaurant/shop from 1300 to 1500. In Kesesnuma(the seaside city) a lot of road　and breakwaters were still under reconstruction. Because of this, my navigation didn’t work. Today's mileage:111km. Tunnel passed:0.
