今日はいろいろやることがあるので早めの出発７１５。気温14度。朝からいい天気、これまで北海道では日焼けの心配をする必要なかったが、やっと普通の夏が来つつある。青空の下

きれいな景色。

稚内から海沿いに南下せず、内陸に入り込んだのはぜひ行きたいところがあったから。それは塩狩峠。三浦綾子の「塩狩峠」読んだことありますか？　思い起こせば45年前、高校1年になって初めて学校の図書館から偶然借りた本がこの「塩狩峠」でした。とても感動しました。その偶然が、私を文学少年、青年、壮年、老年にしたのです。大人になったら、この主人公のような立派な大人になりたいと誓い、、、なりました。是非その小説の舞台「塩狩峠」に行きたいという思いがあり、やっと実現しました。そこには三浦綾子の最初に住んだ家（雑貨店）が移転されていました。

塩狩駅では偶然にも、たまにしか通らない列車と「塩狩峠」の印と一緒に写真にとることができました。

息子よ！　学校の図書館にこの「塩狩峠」はあるはずだから借りて読みなさい！なかったら、図書カードを沢山持ってるんだから買って読みなさい！

塩狩峠を降りて向かったのが、旭山動物園。

地方の破産寸前だった動物園が「どのように見せるか」にこだわり抜いて見事な飛躍を遂げました。96年には26万人まで落ち込んだ来客数が、97年からの“変革”で大きく変わり2007年には307万人まで増えた。現在ブームは去ったが160-170万人で推移しているらしい。いる動物は同じなのに、見せ方ひとつで客が呼べるとはすごいことです。

この動物園に来るために旭川に来るという人たちも沢山います。今日も平日で暑いのに沢山の人達。中国人、韓国人も多かった。東京には上野の他に多摩に動物園があります。上野はパンダがいるだけ（それも和歌山の白浜より少ない）ですが、多摩動物園はここ旭山に見習ったのか面白い見せ方をしています。山の斜面にあるのも、ここと似ています。もっと多摩も脚光をあびていいのにと思いました。

旭川駅到着。ものすごくきれいなビル。昨日言い写真が撮れなかったので、今朝散歩がてら撮って着ました。旭川駅は4路線のターミナルなんだな～

ルートラボ（Route-Lab）　Nayoro-Asahikawa

At 715am, I started the journey. Temp:14. Till the day before yesterday, I was in winter, and now in summer. Today I was looking forward to visiting the place of “Shiokari Pass”. When I was in the first grade of high school, I read a novel, “Shiokari Pass” written by Miura Ayako. It was about the tragedy which had happened at the railway station in this pass. I was very much impressed by this novel and it was my unforgettable memory.

An old house where the author had lived was relocated to this pass. When I took picture of station, the train just passed fortunately. It was very lucky because only 8 trains usually passed in the morning time.

After that, I forwarded to the “Asahiyama Zoo”. It was a small zoo which would be bankrupted in 1990s. From 1997, they changed the concept of how to show the animals. The number of visitors shrunk to 260K in 1996, but thanks to the change, it became 3070K in 2007. Currently it is between 1600K and 1700K.It is a surprising thing by the zoo in local city. Though it was hot today(27C), I could see a lot of Chinese and Korean.

There is “Tama Zoo” in Tokyo near to my house. The concept of this zoo is also like “Asahiyama Zoo”. Considering the quality, “Tama Zoo” could be more famous. Currently the number of “Tama Zoo” is around 1000K.

I arrive Asahikawa Station. The building was modern and beatifu. This station is the terminal for 4 lines. It was hot! I should be more careful about sunburn. Today’s mileage:91km, tunnel passed:0
